Small Axe, created by Steve McQueen for BBC One and first broadcast in 2020 is a collection of five films about the experiences of London’s West Indian community from the 1960s through to the mid-80s.

Small Axe was nominated for a record number of 15 BAFTAs, and two of the films Mangrove and Lovers Rock were in the official competition selection for Cannes 2020. The anthology won the inaugural European Film Award for innovative storytelling.

Small Axe is directed, co-written and Executive Produced by Steve McQueen; Executive Producers are Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner.
